On The Verizon Plan, there are two different charges: Data plan shared by up to 10 devices Device access charge for each device For example, if you have 4 smartphones and 1 tablet on your account, you'll have 5 device access charges (i.e., one for each device) and 1 data plan charge. Yes, in addition to phones, the following devices can be added to The Verizon Plan: Tablets Verizon Jetpack®A 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot device that lets you simultaneously connect multiple Wi-Fi capable devices to the Verizon Wireless network for access to the Internet or your private network. Mobile broadband routers Netbooks and Notebooks LTE Internet (Installed) Wireless home phone Other connected devices
Monthly access charges for smartphones on The Verizon Plan differ based on:
  • If you're currently making monthly device payments or own the phone, the monthly access charge will be $20
  • If you purchased the phone at a discounted price, the monthly access charge is $40
You can switch to The Verizon Plan anytime, but the monthly access charges for all devices on 2-year contracts will remain at $40 until each device contract expires. Once each device contract expires, the monthly access charge will automatically drop to $20.

If you're satisfied with your current plan, you can keep it.
No, if you’d like to upgrade your device you aren’t required to switch to The Verizon Plan. However, you may not be able to receive a discount on a new device and will be required to pay the retail price instead.
Yes, if you'd like to change one device to The Verizon Plan, all devices will have to be changed as well. However, you can open a separate account for devices you'd like on The Verizon Plan.
No, once you change to The Verizon Plan, you can't switch back to a previous plan.
If one of your existing devices uses the free 25 GB of Verizon Cloud storage, you won't lose it. However, any new devices added to your account won't receive 25 GB for free.
Depending on your current plan, you may be eligible to change and backdate your plan to the first day of your bill cycle. Your bill will be calculated as if you were on your new calling plan for the entire bill cycle. If the data plan you're switching to is equal to or more than your current plan, you can backdate your bill. If the data plan you’re switching to is less than your current plan, you won't be able to backdate your bill.

The Verizon Plan Data

A data allowance is the amount of data included with your selected plan. You use data on your device when not connected to Wi-Fi and you access the Internet, check your email, play games, use apps (e.g., Facebook®, Twitter®, etc.) and more. Background tasks, such as syncing or location services, may also use data. With The Verizon Plan, the amount of data you use each time you access the Internet will be deducted from your data allowance. The Verizon Plan comes with a data allowance that you can share with up to 10 devices on your account.* *Small Business Plans include shareable data for up to 25 devices.
If you already use a smartphone with a data plan, then you can select a data size based on how much you and the other devices that will be on your account currently use.
Yes, we have several sizes available up to 100 GB. You can select a different size on the Plans page.
No matter what size data plan you have, all overages are billed at $15 for each 1 GB, rounded up. For example, if you use 250 MB over your allowance, you'll be charged $15.
No, if you have The Verizon Plan, you must have at least one phone on the account. However, we do offer other Data Only Plans.
No, you won't be able to switch to The Verizon Plan and keep any bonus data. If you'd like to keep your bonus data, you can upgrade your phone by purchasing at retail price or getting it somewhere else.
No, you're not required to switch to The Verizon Plan when you get a new device. If you like your old plan, you can keep it, and can even get a new device using monthly device payments.
No, you aren't required to switch to The Verizon Plan, even when upgrading your device. However, if you currently have an unlimited data plan, you won't be able to keep it if you want to upgrade to a 4G LTE device at a discounted price or through device payments. You can choose from a plan with a standalone data package or The Verizon Plan. If keeping unlimited data is important to you, you have the option to pay retail price for a new phone.
The iPad plan that includes 1 GB for $20 won't change. You can switch to The Verizon Plan, but there's no need to if you're satisfied with your existing plan.
No, the new smartphone will not have unlimited data. However, if you want to add another line to your account and you choose to switch to The Verizon Plan, you'll be able to select the data allowance that matches your usage patterns and budget. Plus, The Verizon Plan includes unlimited minutes*, unlimited messages and shareable data for up to 10 devices on your account. If you're a current customer interested in adding another device to your account but don't want to switch your current plan to The Verizon Plan, we offer a variety of data packages that can be added to your plan, starting as low as $20 per month. Note: The data allowances in these packages aren't shared. * The Verizon Plan offers unlimited talk and unlimited text. If you prefer basic phones, you have the option to select The Verizon Plan with 700 minutes.

International Benefits

You can send as many as you want. Every device on your account gets to send unlimited text and multimedia messages internationally from the US on The Verizon Plan.
We have several options for customers who make frequent international calls from the US: Call the World - 1000 shared minutes per month for all the phones on your account to call more than 200 countries from the US. Call Mexico and Canada - 1000 shared minutes per month for all the phones on your account to call from the US to Mexico and Canada. International Long Distance Value Plan - Access international voice rates at a discounted per-minute rate.

Managing Your Data

Call from your device Call #DATA (#3282) from your mobile phone. A text message containing your data usage details will be sent to you.
If your data usage falls between two options, it may be a better value to sign up for the larger allowance. Each 1 GB over your plan is billed at $15, rounded up to the nearest GB.
By turning on Wi-Fi, you'll still have access to the Internet, but you won't use your monthly data allowance. Most smartphones and tablets can be configured to search for open Wi-Fi hotspots and, depending on your settings, automatically connect.
Unfortunately, yes, you'll be charged for data usage on apps you re-download, or you can save on data usage by connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
